Mahesh to Extend his Frontiers

Mahesh Babu is undoubtedly the leading star in Tollywood now. There may be debates about his position as number one hero, but inarguably he is leading the pack of Telugu superstars at this point. For some reason Mahesh didn't try to extend his business frontiers beyond Tollywood.

Most of our actors are making plans to conquer other states like Tamilnadu and Kerala. Allu Arjun has already earned so much name and fame in Kerala. Ram Charan and others are following the suit. Mahesh despite being a super power in Tollywood market never tried to set his foot in other states. Businessman was supposed to release in Tamil and Malayalam along with Telugu. But that didn't happen.

Finally it is happening with Dookudu. This film is the biggest hit in Mahesh Babu's career till now. The makers of Dookudu believe that it will work in other languages too and are releasing the dubbed version of Dookudu in Kerala shortly. Recently Malayalam version's audio was launched too. Hope it leaves a strong impression so that all of Mahesh's future ventures get a simultaneous release in Malayalam.

Ground is ready for Srimannarayana

Balakrishna's Srimannarayna is going to hit the screens this Thursday and is touted to be the biggest ever release for Nata Simham. Despite the poor track record of Balakrishna post Simha, this film is raising expectations as the trailers look promising. Dialogues of Balakrishna are getting huge applause and the songs are rocking the charts too.

With no big film releasing in this week and with Julayi's business almost coming to a close, Srimannarayana will have enough space to make merry at the box office. Most of the biggies have done well in this year when they got perfect slot for release. After Simha this is the only film that attracted the masses and hardcore fans of Balayya.

If Srimannarayana has good content it is sure to do well with everything in its favor. Balakrishna needs a hit at this time as he is preparing ground for his hundredth film. Nandamuri fans have been waiting for a hit post Brindavanam and they will be more than happy if Srimannarayana hits bull's eye.

Pawan Kalyan's film turns a Gold Mine

Pawan fans used to say all that Power star needs is one good hit to be back in business. That turned out to be true with Pawan Kalyan turning red hot after Gabbar Singh's success. Buyers are just shelling out big bucks to bag this film at any cost. Producer Danayya got a gold mine in his hands now. Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu has been getting wonderful business offers all over.

Danayya is very confident about the film that he refused to sell the US rights of CGR for five crores! Gabbar Singh US rights were sold for 3 crores and it collected over million dollars there. So Danayya firmly believes that CGR wouldn't be any less than Gabbar Singh and is releasing the film on his own.

CGR made more than a crore from other overseas areas, which is a record for Pawan Kalyan's film. Australia, New Zealand rights were bought by Elixir India Entertainments for Rs. 30 lakhs. K Janaki Ratna Kumar bought Gulf and Kuwait rights for Rs. 40 lakhs. UK and Europe territory rights were acquired by Colors media for Rs. 30 lakhs. CGR is making big bucks in AP and other states too.

Shankar Blasts Heroine For Drinking

Ace director Shankar is known for his silent killing on sets and he is touted as the one who never loses his cool. But here is an incident where the excessive drinking of his heroine rushed his adrenaline.

'Manoharudu' is the upcoming love-thriller of Shankar that features talented hero Vikram in the lead. Sexy British model Amy Jackson is shaking her legs opposite our macho hero for this movie. Apparently Amy is a huge lover of late night parties and boozing as that is quite predominant in cities like London, where she is from. However, this is taking a toll on next day's shoot as Amy is coming late and unable to maintain her looks evenly. Angered Shankar blasted the saucy seductress in his style and advised her to put a full stop to all parties till the shoot completes.

They say that Shankar is boating against tides to make this film work as the English heroine seemed to be a big trouble. Earlier too such reports were heard from Gowtham Menon's camp during the filming of 'Ye Maya Chesave' hindi version. Let us see what happens!

Director's Praises Scaring Top Celebrities

Once upon a time, there used to be this person who is the most sought after director to hang on for any celebrity. But now people are running away from him and are praying to God that he should not praise them. Check out the story.

Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma is no more a golden goose for our celebrities to chase. His silly comments and stupid movies made him sink in the mud that couldn't be cleaned so easily. At the same time, whoever receives his praises are going through a slump in their careers. He praised Illeana during 'Nenu Na Rakshasi' time, Naga Chaitanya during 'Bezawada' movie and Nathalia Kaur after making 'Department'. All these three celebrities are still finding it difficult to score few runs in the industry and they believe that Ramu's praises are the curse. For this reason, many people are going tight lipped when they face RGV as he wouldn't praise such people.

Well, if Ramu praises or fails that is his problem and when someone else skids, it is their problem. If words have such power in tinsel town, then this director will not make a flop and money-burying flicks in the first place.

Suriya takes on Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan and Suriya are two big stars in South India who could make everyone turn their heads. What would be the result if these stars compete with their films at the Box Office.

Suriya's much awaited film Duplicate (Maatraan in Tamil) in the director of KV Anand (Rangam fame) is gearing up for release on October 12, which means it will hit the screens just one day after Pawan's Camerman Gangatho Rambabu (Oct 11 release). Bellamkonda Suresh has bought the rights of this film which has Kajal as the female lead for an exorbitant price of Rs 17 crores and has been planning for a wide releasee all over AP.

The films of Pawan Kalyan and Suriya never competed at the Box Office until now, but CGR and Duplicate might break that . Although both these stars have a fan base and market of their own, releasing their films without much gap could eat each others collections. Although Pawan will have an edge irrespective of the opponent as his popularity and fan base innumerable, Distributors and Exhibitors were expressing dis-interest on the release dates of these films just because they weren't ready to take any chances. Let's see if Suriya backs out of the battle to pave way for Powerstar!

While selecting heroines is always a big issue for big heroes, here is a guy who is getting lucky all the time with kind of girls he is getting on board. Beautiful and sexy sirens like Meera Jasmin and Shriya are part of his previous films and currently he is shaking legs with petite Trisha for 'Samar' movie. Latest girl to join him is Amala Paul for an upcoming venture under the direction of Boopathy Pandiyan. Sources revealed that Vishal not only selects ravishing girls, but pays them high when it comes to remuneration. Maybe this is also a good reason.

Prabhas's Rebel, which has been under production for so many years, is aiming for September release. Despite the delay fans are happy that it is going to get wide release without any competition. All other biggies that were planned for September release have been pushed to other dates. When things are looking bright for Prabhas, out came a competitor leaving Rebel fans in shock. Sekhar Kammula's Life is Beautiful was actually planned for release in August. Now it has been pushed to September 13. LIB is not comparable to Rebel in any way. But the brand value of Sekhar Kammula is big in cities and overseas. It will not be easy for Rebel if LIB releases at the same time. Sekhar Kammula doesn't care about competition and has a knack of taking on biggies. Anand was released along with Shankardada MBBS and Happy Days released against Chiruta. Sekhar don't bother about external factors and just releases his film when it is ready. If both the films release at the same time without any changes, we hope both the movies does well. Wait, September is also going to witness Shirdi Sai and Srimannarayana. Well, September is going to be huge for Tollywood.

Talk-of-Town: Dashing Producer's risky move

Producer Bellamkonda Suresh's aggressive moves have brought his quick bucks, but at times he paid the price too. He brought the AP theatrical rights of film Maattrraan (Duplicate in Telugu) for a staggering Rs 17 crore. This move has shocked the trade, as the rights of Surya's previous films were fetched for less than Rs 15 crores. Surya's last outing '7th Sense' failed to set the cash registers ringing. Although the film fared reasonably well in Nizam territory, it incurred losses to distributors and exhibitors in Andhra and Rayalseema. Trade analysts say, Maattrraan should get a solo release, positive talk and fantastic openings in AP to at least recover the investment. "A super hit talk is a must for this film for break even. Producer need to forget about the profits, if the film gets a divide or negative talk in the first few days of its release," is what they say. Surya was always known to experiment with his looks and the subjects he choose. He plays conjoined twins in this film and this is the first time an Indian actor has done something like this. Let's see if his hard work pays off!

DCM Failure pegs back Rambabu in Overseas

Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh is currently the second biggest hit in Overseas but still buyers are still cautious in quoting prices for his upcoming movie, Gabbar Singh in Overseas. And the reason behind this is director Puri Jagannath’s failure. Puri had lost his touch in recent times and all his movies including the recent Devudu Chesina Manushulu failed miserably at overseas box office. The buyers are quoting 2.5crore for Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu which is by far very less comparing the improved overseas market. However, they are arguing that Mahesh’s Businessman after a blockbuster like Dookudu also resulted in losses for them and they are not ready to risk. So, the makers of Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu are directly planning to venture in to overseas business and distribute the movie on their own there.

Junior Answers Senior Heroes' Doubts

This latest junior sensation on the cine circuits had an uneasy moment the other day when he attended a private event, where the entire film fraternity is present. He is none other than young music director Anirudh, who shot to fame with 'Kolaveri Di'. We all know about some pictures of Anirudh doing rounds on internet, where he is locking lips with hot singer Andrea Jeremiah. Reportedly, the film fraternity shocked as to how a young boy like him flattered the much elder dusky hottie. Few actors who shared screen space with Andrea are said to be storming to Anirudh to know more details about those pictures. This happened at some music awards event that took place the other day. Sources revealed that Anirudh just answered those entire questions with one single expression, a smile. On the flip side, some elderly heroines present at the venue wore a frown expression upon looking at Anirudh. Surprisingly all those heroine aunties are part of many such affairs during their peak times.

Nayan's New Strategy For Small Payments

A lot of factors like heroine's craze, demand, production house and the director of the film, play a crucial role in deciding a sexy starlet's remuneration. And, when that offer is low, some sirens come up with crazy demands and here is one from Nayantara. As her re-entry movie into films, Nayantara is now shedding sweat in the role of a documentary film maker for Krish's latest movie. In 'Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum', she is donning the role that got scope for acting and hence some less pay pocket. To fill that space, Nayan now wants the director to use her original voice in the movie, says a source. An insider says that as a gesture of mutual respect, it is Krish who has asked her to lend voice. However critics stated that Nayan is coming up with new-strategies if there is a small payment before her. Right now, the sexy siren is busy with Rana's Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, Nagarjuna's Love Story and Gopichand's movie. We have to see if she springs back to top slot or not.

Sexy actress is on sale

Even a blockbuster is not working for her now. People are not ready to watch a skeleton walking around in glamorous outfits. Yes, this is about Ileana. She got a big hit with Julayi after very long time. But that is not helping her in any way as far as her Tollywood career is concerned. Ileana didn't get any credit for Julayi's success and the disastrous result of DCM made things even worse. With future looking bleak, Ileana came up with an idea to resurrect her career. Ileana is one of the highest paid actresses in South India. She doesn't want that tag anymore. Ileana is planning to cut down her paycheck for big movies. Ileana wants to stay in competition and for that sake she is offering 30 to 40% discount on her regular remuneration. However, Ileana won't be offering these Sale prices for small films. Ileana wants to star opposite big stars and hence she decided to cut down the prices. Besides she is also putting on few kilos to shut the critics mouths. That means a Sexier lady for a cheaper price. Well, this seems to be an interesting deal. Isn't it?

Victory Venkatesh risks yet again

Venkatesh was undoubtedly one of the best crowd pullers among our Telugu heroes. But that is history. Venkatesh is not anymore hot in the trade. He is also failing to draw great openings like he did until five years ago. However, Venkatesh is too stubborn to stop competing with young stars. Due to the same reason his previous film Bodyguard failed to do well despite having good content. Bodyguard locked horns with Businessman during last Pongal. As a film Bodyguard was better, but it couldn't withstand the wave of Businessman. This proved that audiences prefer young stars to senior stars. Venkatesh is not willing to agree with that. He is getting into fight with young heroes yet again and that too for Pongal. NTR's Badshah and Ram Charan's Nayak are going to release for coming Pongal. Venkatesh's Shadow is also aiming for the same season. As per the new business model, accommodating theaters for three biggies is impossible. If Shadow remains in the race, it will have to suffer as NTR and Charan movies will get more screens compared to Venky.

Pawan Kalyan unmoved!

There is lot of discussion going around about Pawan Kalyan's next film Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu's result. With Puri Jagannadh giving a rude shock with Devudu Chesina Manushulu, everybody is raising doubts over CGR. Even Power fans are worried about it as they don't want Pawan to slip into flop zone yet again. Pawan Kalyan is not at all bothered about all this. He is simply concentrating on his work. Although Pawan knows that Puri Jagan has delivered a historical dud, he is not asking for any changes in CGR. He believed in Puri's script and is just sticking with it. External factors don't matter for PK. Disasters are not new to Puri Jagan though. He has made Pokiri after Andhrawala and hence we don't know if CGR can be another Pokiri from him. Also Puri's style gels well with Pawan's. After all Pawan is the one who gave first opportunity for Puri. He got a chance to direct him after 12 long years. We don't think he will waste this chance. Wait until CGR arrives before writing it off.

Mega Hero Turned Mind To 'Kick-2'

Making all those rumours that are wide spread in Film Nagar true, our Mega hero is inclining towards another director. And the project is none other than 'Kick2' if sources are to be believed. Ever since 'Devudu Chesina Manushulu' bombed like nothing at Box Office, Mega camp is worrying a lot as Powerstar and Stylish Star are doing a flick each with director Puri Jagan. Looks like, All Arjun has changed his opinion and he is not going to start his film with Puri Jagan, but is rushing to another talented director. Reports have that talented Surender Reddy is roped into the track to direct Bunny. From a long time, Surender's 'Kick2' is not taking off though he tried to make it happen with Raviteja. There are chances for this script to get be okayed by Arjun now. If Surender Reddy's film takes off then Puri's supposed 'Iddaru Ammayilu' will be pushed back. Undoubtedly a hit is what that matters in Tollywood and all equations fall behind it.

Sexy Heroines @ Charan's Lady Followers

The moment Mega Powerstar signed a couple of biggies, many models and aspiring heroines are trying to impress this thunderous hero. The list includes some macho heroes, talented character artists and now sexy heroines. Do you remember this girl, who has stripped, wore bikinis and most famously shared hot moments with Amitabh Bachan? We are talking about 'Nishabd' beauty Jiah Khan, the girl who romanced Amitabh in that RGV flick. The other day Jiah is in town to attend an event and when people questioned about her Telugu fav heroes, she immediately said, Mahesh and Charan. B-town people are having good show of Mahesh because his wife hails from that circuit and when it comes to Charan it is purely because of 'Zanjeer'. Many heroines who are trying to get good meat in Hindi circuit are now saying that Charan is their favourite. But Mega Powerstar is not the kind of guy who just falls for flattery and pressurizes directors to rope in his choice of beauties, says a source.

However, ravishing Shriya Saran got that chance now and is doing a 'Kalari' fight in her upcoming movie. For her latest Kannada-Tamil bilingual 'Chandra', she has shot extensively for a fighting sequence with swords and barefoot in a beautiful temple. Director Roopa says that Shriya is not just hot but also brave and the fight has it all. Well, personal satisfaction comes easily from such stunts, but many Indian heroines failed to enter top league again after ending up as on-screen fighters. Hope all Shriya's fans prepare their mind for anything.
